What we use & why it matters
Well water often carries dissolved iron and manganese you can't see, until it stains your sinks orange. The MSP AIO ceramic disc valve keeps a pocket of pressurized air inside the tank. When water passes through, the air naturally turns those dissolved metals into solid particles the media can catch. No chemicals added, ever.
Once the air pocket turns iron and manganese into solid bits, the Katalox Light media bed traps them like a net, down to about 3 microns, and even nudges your water's pH up for better taste. It cleans itself with automatic backwashing, so maintenance stays close to zero.
Well water is usually hard water too. The second tank is packed with 10% crosslinked resin beads that pull out the calcium and magnesium, so on top of clear, stain-free water you get soft water at every faucet and shower.
Polishing gravel under the Katalox Light and under the 10% crosslinked resin keeps flow even, prevents channeling and holds fine media out of the distributor, so both tanks deliver their full rated capacity.
